The deadline is fast approaching. Self-employed individuals and their spouses or common-law partners have until midnight on June 15, 2016, to file their 2015 income tax and benefit returns. However, while the return does not have to be filed until June 15th, all taxes owing for 2015 have to be paid on or before April 30, 2016.
For more information, see Filing due dates for the 2015 tax return

Who qualifies for this extended filing deadline?

Self-employed individuals include sole proprietors, partnerships, and self-employed commission sales. If you had self-employment income in 2015, you and your spouse, common-law spouse, or partner, are given until June 15, 2016 to file your personal income tax and benefits returns. If, however, you are living apart from your spouse or common-law partner at December 31, this extension may not apply to the none self-employed spouse/partner. Contact us, or your advisor, to determine your individual situation and get the right advice.
